Hurling in 2004
April 8th, 2004The preseason for the Milwaukee Hurling Club is now in full swing. Last night I had a great time at practice and later at the Milwaukee Ale House for the Round Robin. I guess there is a new chef there, and as a part of the change they now have a pot roast on the menu. I had it and it was very good. County Clare also has a pot roast, but I think theirs is a bit more tasty.
Practice seemed to be a little easy, but I am sure we will get to running hills and sprints will come in later practices as people gradually get back in shape after the long winter. My legs are burning this morning, but was largely caused by going for a long bike ride on Tuesday.
My brother Aaron and my friend Darryl are playing as rookies this year as well. I am anxious to see what they will be able to do in the first game. Darryl has been a hockey player for a long time so his stick skills may translate to hurling. And Aaron is just wild, but he may have enough energy to run around for a full 30 minute half. But I am thinking he may be a danger to anyone who gets too close to him. He will have to develop some self-control.
