Tricked out new iMac
August 31st, 2004
It will always cause a stir when Apple comes out with new iMac. The new one now takes it a step further than the previous version by eliminating the fat base and placing all of the components behind the flat screen. But the interesting part is how it eliminates the clutter.
This iMac makes use of bluetooth and WiFi to connect and communicate with peripherals. The design allows for a mouse and keyboard to work without being connected with a cable and your stereo and printer get data through the air with WiFi. And the price is just right at $1299.
This new iMac is a G5 and I currently use a snow iBook which is a 500Mhz G3 processor. An upgrade to this iMac would be a clear difference, but I am not sure I will shell out the cash for it just yet. It appears that Apple made sure this thing is ready for gaming with a powerful processor and video card. I am sure that within 6 months I will be buying a new Mac, but it may be a tower so I can tinker with video and sound editing.
The new iMac looks tempting. We will see.

Ho hum - Apple packages up a computer like lots of others have done for a while, and everyone gets excited.

I have not seen everything all in one small package. Others have provided wireless for the keyboard, mouse and printers for a while, but packing it all into the monitor and making it so slick is something I have not seen from Dell or Compaq. And the price is nothing I would expect from a competitor. If they could offer something this nice it would be much more expensive. And if they did offer something at this price I am sure the thing would be a piece of junk, like an eMachine.

holy shit. i've been a fan of chad's forever, but i just discovered your blog today. anyhow, this iMAC is tyte. i love it. never was too fond of the former iMAC, but this could be something to invest in. and not to mention, the price is sweet. i'm still a little...shall we say, dumbfounded by the whole pack-all-the-shit-on-the-monitor deal...maybe ive just been off the scene too long. anyhow, thanks for helping me decide what to blow my cash on brennan!
