Web Technology Presentation
November 8th, 2004On Wednesday I am giving a presentation about the advantages of modern web technologies. I will be going into the history of legacy technologies like SGML and Postscript and draw the path which leads to HTML, XML and now XHTML. I will demostrate how CSS, Javascript/DOM and XSL also fit into the mix. I will also contrast these open standards to closed proprietary alternatives as well as demonstrate the cost benefits. The history will provide a context for where we are now and how to plan for the future to minimize the costs associated with staying current.
The event is for The Society for Technical Communication and anyone can sign up to attend. It includes a dinner which is followed by the presentation. If you work with information technology and would like to learn of powerful methods for taming all of it, this is the presentation to attend.
