Hot Fixes for Visual Studio 2005

November 22nd, 2006

It will be a while before we can get our hands on the final release of the next version of Visual Studio, code-named Orcas. In the meantime, there have been some fixes created for common problems in Visual Studio 2005. Microsoft has published the DevDiv Hotfix Public Availability Pilot Program to make those hot fixes accessible.

One bug on my list was the deployment (setup) projects I use to create MSI installers for console and WinForm applications. Apparently Visual Studio can corrupt the project references so the project becomes unusable. One of the available hot fixes corrects this problem.

Thanks to Avonelle for pointing this out.
